GaMapICC example: "Red Flowers" © Phanuphong Paothong / stock.xchng
Original (AdobeRGB) – ISO Coated v2 (ECI) rel. w. BPC – ISO Coated v2 (ECI) perceptual – GaMapICC 0.1 – GaMapICC 0.3b – GaMapICC 0.5
This example shall demonstrate the advantages and drawbacks of GaMapICC / ArgyllCMS. Please use a color-managed web browser[1] to view it.
Please note: The gamut of the original image exceeds ordinary display gamuts. There is a blazing pink area between the red part and the white center of the flowers you can't assess reliably on a sRGB monitor.
However, the red part of the petals should be assessable also on many typical monitors.
What I noticed:
The commands I used to produce the GaMapICC version were:
tiffgamut -ir -pj -cmt '1085826_10236297.tif' '1085826_10236297.tif'
collink -ke -cmt -dmt -ip -G '1085826_10236297.gam' '1085826_10236297.tif' 'ISOcoated_v2_eci.icc' 'Adobe RGB (1998) -cmt ISO Coated v2 (ECI) -dmt.icc'
cctiff -d 'ISOcoated_v2_eci.icc' 'Adobe RGB (1998) -cmt ISO Coated v2 (ECI) -dmt.icc' '1085826_10236297.tif' '1085826_10236297@ISO Coated v2 (ECI)(is100).tif'
The JPGs on this page are downscaled and transformed back to AdobeRGB using rel. col. w. BPC.
